Technical skills are in high demand, but the financial pathway to certification can be difficult.
Technical certifications create a skilled workforce that attracts new businesses and helps existing businesses to grow, giving low-income workers a path to higher wage jobs. Traditional forms of financial aid and student loans cannot typically be used for certificate programs.
Commodore Perry can offer innovative and unique lending products not typically offered by financial Institutions to help certify more skilled workers.

If you live, work, worship, or go to school in Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood, or Hancock County, Ohio, or if you have a family member who lives, works, worships, or goes to school in Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood, or Hancock County (even if they’re not a member!) you’re eligible for membership!
We offer the following solutions for students seeking education in career training and skilled trade certifications:
Technical Skills Education Loan: Finance non-traditional adult education not typically covered by Pell Grant or government student loan programs.
- Low fixed interest rate
- No origination fee
- Deferred payments until 30 days following the end of the program
Student Relief Loan – Debt Consolidation: Refinance high interest debt into one lower monthly payment to assist while working and in school.
Student Relief Loan – Auto Refinancing: Refinance current auto loan to have lower monthly payments.
- No origination fee
- No payment for 60 days
- Rate discount for direct deposit
